		<description>I think its a shame that open source design (both theory and praxis) is lagging so far behind the reality of instant fabrication. We (designers) can *do* this now!

I met the tackle guys at a barcap in NC a couple years ago and they were awesome -- so excited about what they are doing. And you are right that the biggest thing taking the wind out of their sails was problem of manufacturing. At the barcamp we talked a lot about the possibilities of instant fabrication (ie, the ability to print in 3 dimensions). The problem of distribution is another one I hadn&#039;t thought of.

But my point is that I am just frustrated that designers don&#039;t share, and we don&#039;t get asked to share; we have a tiny uncomfortable a place in the open source world. Using open version control for autoCAD files is the core of the idea to me. Sharing photoshop files in an open source way would be the same idea; it almost never happens. ... Hmm, maybe I should start putting my stuff on github ...
